Kash the Dog, Our Border Collie Aussie Mix Loves Snow

Border Collie-Aussie Mix Dogs Are Smart

Kash the Dog, a Border Collie-Aussie mix, is smart, sometimes too smart. He learns stuff just by telling him what to do, like in a normal conversation. (when he wants to)

Other times, he totally ignores what you are saying (and you can tell) when he has something else on his mind. Kinda makes me mad at times. But I’m kinda the same way.

Kash loves to play and hike in the snow. He is constantly begging me to go for a walk, more so than usual. I think he wants to find the animal that is making the strange tracks in the snow, a mystery that I can’t figure out either.

I think it may be something unusual, because it’s not a fox, coyote, big cat, but something that like to patrol waterways and looks to be about the size of a raccoon or slightly bigger. Raccoons are not out in the winter time around here, unless there is a thaw.

The coyotes and deer have been active in my area as of late. Sometimes I worry when I let Kash out at night to go to the bathroom, that he will take off after a coyote. Even though Kash is bigger than a coyote, I don’t think he is a good enough fighter, especially if there may be more than one.

When he takes off after something in the dark, I can call, yell, even scream at him and he doesn’t come back until he is ready. It has been getting worse lately. I have been thinking about a Remote Control Training Shock Collar.

Have any of you ever used one of these for training purposes? I know there is a vibration mode, because I surely would hate to shock the dog all the time. Let me know if you use a shock collar for training, please. (in the comments below)

Christmas is almost here. Less than a week away, so I better wish you a wonderful holiday season and may all your dreams come true.

Sincerely,

Thomas & Kash
