This Border Collie-Aussie Went on Vacation!

Kash, the Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy went on his first mini vacation!  He is an excellent traveler, something we had to find out.  So this was kind of an experiment to see how well he would do.

Every thing is new to a puppy when you travel.  Well, for the most part, it is new to me to too.  That is the whole point of traveling, to see new vistas, places, things, and have a new experience.  But to a puppy, wow, it has to be all the senses on full alert!

Kash got to see those big giant wind turbines, hundreds of them!  We stopped a couple times and walked out to one of them.  I was pretty amazed myself, as I had never seen any in real life.

We drove one tank of gas worth to the south.  That put us in Parke County, Indiana.  We stopped when the thermometer hit 70 degrees.  It was a great place to start exploring, as Parke county is where there is a large concentration of covered bridges.

We took Kash hiking in Turkey Run State Park.  What a gorgeous day and found some great trails to boot.  Hardly a soul around so we were able to take him off his leash.  By the way, he took well to the leash training we learned from our dog training guide.  Highly recommended!

We saw many different animals, birds, and even a salamander to show Kash.  He was really intrigued with a raccoon the first night and the giant bull laying in the field next to the road the next morning.  The geese got him excited as well.  He let them know who could be louder!

As you know, we like to feed Kash good healthy dog food.  But, it was vacation after all, so we bought him a Burger King Double Cheeseburger!  We crumbled up one patty onto his regular healthy dog food and mushed it in.  Boy did he like that!  We saved the second patty for the next days food dish.

We sure did have fun, probably because our Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy was so darn well behaved!  I have to attribute a lot of it to our dog training guide we invested in when we first knew we were getting a Border Collie mix puppy.  It has made a world of difference in his behavior.  Well worth the money, a hundred times over.  I don’t think I would have made it through his early weeks without it.

Well our first mini vacation with Kash went smooth and we all had fun, saw a lot of new interesting things and made it back home safe.  Stay tuned as I will have a vacation video posted shortly.

Hug your animal.
