Border Collie Aussie Mix Dog Gets Crazy in the Pond

Kash, our Border Collie-Aussie mix kritter, gets a little crazy when he gets wet in the pond. The poor frogs.  He runs and jumps in, splashing and dunking his head.  This dog is funny nuts.

Kash brought his tug-o-war sock in the pond to play.  Pretty soon it sank.  A sunk sock.  He would stick his head underwater and snatch the first thing he would find.  It was usually a branch, weeds, or mud.  Not the sock.  He finally gave up after a lot of snorting and blowing bubbles.

Kash’s dog training took another slump.  Not his fault, but ours.  We only seem to work on training on the weekends when we can both work with Kash at the same time.  I don’t know if he learns better with two people saying the same commands, or if it confuses him, not knowing who to please first.

We have been experimenting with some homemade dog food and homemade dog snacks lately.  Kash really loves the garlic biscuits, and the beef/rice/carrots/apples dinner that we have tried.  We didn’t make a big bunch of it, just enough to see how well he likes it.

I am a big fan of healthy dog food as you probably know by now.  I used to make homemade dog food for our previous dog who had food allergies.  That is why we chose our puppys’ food carefully after a lot of research.

The best source for finding out about healthy dog food and even some dog foods to never feed your dog, my friend Sharda has a great resource called Dog Food Dangers.  If you want to know what is the best food to feed your dog and why it is the best, click on the link highlighted above.

Oh yeah, we are trying out a “bark deterrent” collar on Kash.  It is the last resort before I rip his barker clean out of his throat!  He will bark non-stop with the most ear piercing sharp, pain-to-the-brain bark for 5-8 minutes straight.  We have tried everything except “the collar”.  We are only using it under very controlled times and conditions as I do not want to harm him or make him scared to bark.  It’s complicated.

Throw your dog a bone.
