This Border Collie-Aussie mix Dog is 50lbs Already!

Kash our Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy is getting bigger every time he wakes up!  We think we should quit feeding him such good quality healthy dog food.  Maybe he would stop growing.  Just kidding.  He is still eating Blue Buffalo Puppy food 3 times a day.

Kash is pure muscle and speed.  He makes go going fast look so darn easy.  He gets from one place to another deceptively fast.  Chipmunks have now almost vacated the area because he catches them and thinks they are toys.  Maybe it just torture in disguise for them teasing him when he is behind the gate and can’t get to them.

Pouncing... poor chipmunk!

We have been experimenting with some homemade dog food recipes lately.  He is a little over 9 months old and we probably won’t keep him on puppy food past a year, so we’re trying to find the right healthy dog food combination.  We want to make homemade dog treats as well.  We are big believers in feeding our dog quality dog food.

There is a really good ebook online called “Healthy Dog Food: Dr. Millers Tested Homemade Recipes” that we purchased for the healthy dog food and treats recipes.  It is a easy to follow, good recipe book for a variety of reasons, and they all aren’t just food. Check it out and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how many you will want to try.

When you start reading this book you’ll know, in a moment, exactly how to feed your dog, easily and inexpensively, to quickly get ASTONISHING results…

You will discover how to unlock your dog’s full potential. Know how to simply skyrocket your dog up to new mind-blowing levels of beauty, health and admiration…

I highly recommend “Healthy Dog Food: Dr. Millers Tested Homemade Recipes” if you are serious about giving your dog some of the best, healthiest dog food you can.  Don’t you think your dog is worth it.  He trusts you to make the right decision.

Another thing we strive for is regular daily exercise for this critter.  He just needs to stretch out those long freckled legs of his and turn on the jets – often.  Shelly will go about 100 yards down the driveway and I’ll go to the end out the grass in the back.  With Kash by my side, Shelly calls Kash and away he goes, like a bullet shot out of a rifle!  Then I call him…

We put a lot of effort into Kash to make him healthy and strong, and he is.  Good exercise, healthy dog food, and lots of love and attention makes for a loyal, loving pet. (family member)

Race your dog tonight and praise him when he wins.

PS. Remember when I was talking about “how to stop dog from jumping on people“?  Well we almost have that problem solved.  We tried stepping on his back feet when he jumped, didn’t work.  We finally just started pushing his head down when he would try to jump and holding him down while saying “no jump”.  He seldom jumps up on either of us anymore and has really curtailed his jumping on other people.

Border Collie-Aussie Puppy & Healthy Dog Food

Hey Border Collie-Aussie lovers!

I have some really good news to report.  My Kash biting episode really, really worked!  He has been so good ever since I bit his leg!  Maybe he finally realized that I AM the Alpha dog leader in this clan.  That is my “stop puppy biting” dog training secret!

He has been such a “lover dog” the last few days.  He listens and behaves better than normal.  Kash is even showing some patience and calmness, something which he has not done before.  Almost scary.

Kash is losing his teeth.  We found one of his snake-like needle sharp fangs the other day. He lost both bottom “fangs”.  His top new nippers are in and bright white.  He has some back molars coming in too.  Maybe once these all grow back in he will resume chomping the heck out of my hands.  He better not or I’ll chomp him back again!

Collie mix puppy running right at youKash eats healthy dog food to keep his energy up.  He is looking slightly skinny, but is all muscle.  We keep his food dish at least half full all the time.  He seldom eats a huge amount at once.  It sure seems like it would be healthier if he would actually chew it.  He swallows it whole!

If you really want to learn about the best commercial dog food on the shelves, check out this dog food resource.  Dog Food Dangers It is chocked full of what to feed, and what not to feed your dog.  Highly recommended!

Ok, maybe you should read this, about dog food.  It might explain some stuff you may have been thinking about.  http://www.bordercollie-aussie.com/healthy-dog-food/

It’s SPRING BREAK!  Shelly, my wife, has the week off!  We might even take a day trip or two, to see how well Kash likes to travel.  We were so used to travelling with our previous dog due to her being paralyzed in her rear legs.  She was in a wheelchair for 7+ years of her 13-1/2 years of an amazing, wonderful life.  So hopefully Kash will really like to travel so he can get to hike in the coolest places.

I’ll let you know how it went in the next post.

Feed your dog healthy dog food, and then rub noses when he is done.
