Kash, Our Border Collie-Aussie LOVES Swimming

Our crazy Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy, (9-1/2 months old) loves to swim!  He even puts out his stubborn donkey legs when we try to leave the lake!

Kash loves playing in the waves in Lake Michigan.  Fortunately we are blessed with some awesome sugar sand beaches with easy access.  We can have Kash hop in the van and be at the beach in 10 minutes or less.  It is a beach called Deer Lick Crick.  A small stream called Deer Lick flows into Lake Michigan at this beach.

Kash is getting bigger every day, I swear!  He is approaching 55lbs. and eating 3 times a day.  We are going to have to buy him the large size bag of Blue Buffalo Puppy food to go along with the healthy homemade dog food recipes we have been experimenting with.

Later this summer we are going to explore the shores of Lake Huron around the thumb area of Michigan.  We have not been over to that side of the state much, at least not to adventure around.  We just hope all of our dog training has been sinking in to Kash’s active brain.

Kash has finally grasped the concept that he cannot jump on strangers.  The problem we run into is when the other person starts talking “baby talk” or all mooshy cutsie talk to Kash, then he thinks he is invited to jump up on that person.  Oh, he’ll learn eventually…

After a lot of research this dog training collar seemed to have the most positive sounding comments and made the most sense.  Very programmable and long range.

Kash our Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy is getting bigger every time he wakes up!  We think we should quit feeding him such good quality healthy dog food.  Maybe he would stop growing.  Just kidding.  He is still eating Blue Buffalo Puppy food 3 times a day.

Kash is pure muscle and speed.  He makes go going fast look so darn easy.  He gets from one place to another deceptively fast.  Chipmunks have now almost vacated the area because he catches them and thinks they are toys.  Maybe it just torture in disguise for them teasing him when he is behind the gate and can’t get to them.

Pouncing... poor chipmunk!

We have been experimenting with some homemade dog food recipes lately.  He is a little over 9 months old and we probably won’t keep him on puppy food past a year, so we’re trying to find the right healthy dog food combination.  We want to make homemade dog treats as well.  We are big believers in feeding our dog quality dog food.

There is a really good ebook online called “Healthy Dog Food: Dr. Millers Tested Homemade Recipes” that we purchased for the healthy dog food and treats recipes.  It is a easy to follow, good recipe book for a variety of reasons, and they all aren’t just food. Check it out and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how many you will want to try.

When you start reading this book you’ll know, in a moment, exactly how to feed your dog, easily and inexpensively, to quickly get ASTONISHING results…

You will discover how to unlock your dog’s full potential. Know how to simply skyrocket your dog up to new mind-blowing levels of beauty, health and admiration…

I highly recommend “Healthy Dog Food: Dr. Millers Tested Homemade Recipes” if you are serious about giving your dog some of the best, healthiest dog food you can.  Don’t you think your dog is worth it.  He trusts you to make the right decision.

Another thing we strive for is regular daily exercise for this critter.  He just needs to stretch out those long freckled legs of his and turn on the jets – often.  Shelly will go about 100 yards down the driveway and I’ll go to the end out the grass in the back.  With Kash by my side, Shelly calls Kash and away he goes, like a bullet shot out of a rifle!  Then I call him…

We put a lot of effort into Kash to make him healthy and strong, and he is.  Good exercise, healthy dog food, and lots of love and attention makes for a loyal, loving pet. (family member)

Race your dog tonight and praise him when he wins.

Thomas

PS. Remember when I was talking about “how to stop dog from jumping on people“?  Well we almost have that problem solved.  We tried stepping on his back feet when he jumped, didn’t work.  We finally just started pushing his head down when he would try to jump and holding him down while saying “no jump”.  He seldom jumps up on either of us anymore and has really curtailed his jumping on other people.
