Kash, our Border Collie-Aussie mix dog is 14 months old and weighs 61 pounds. A couple people have said he looks like he is fat! I do not think so. If you could see how little food we give him for a dog his size and his high energy output, there is no way he is fat.
Happy New Year!
I cannot feel any fat on Kash, but we do feed him a nutrient dense food, about 2 cups a day. We do also feed Kash 1-2 meals a week, something from our homemade dog food recipe ebook we bought online. These are easy to make healthy dog food meals. I like the fact that I know and control what goes into his food, unlike many commercial dog foods.
Hope you all had a great Holiday Season and stayed healthy throughout. Kash was able to spend a couple weeks with Shelly, playing and bonding. Oh how that dog loves her!
Shelly took Kash for a walk the other afternoon (late) in our woods out back. They got back to the far property line and a coyote popped up from under some fallen trees. Kash immediately took off after it with Shelly screaming at the top of her lungs for Kash to come back. He listened and came right back! That’s pretty good to be able to call a dog off a full out chase!
Turns out, it looks like it may be a coyote den nestled under those trees. A hole going in the ground and under the tree roots with fresh sign all around. Something to keep an eye on when walking back there, which we do frequently.
Time is a little short today, so until next time…
Pet your dog.
