Border Collie-Aussie Named Kash Chases Weasel

Kash, our Border Collie-Aussie Mix Rescue Dog, chased a weasel.

As quick as Kash is, he did not catch the fleet of foot weasel even though it was carrying a dead chipmunk!  I had spotted the weasel earlier from the window while in the house.  We don’t see too many weasels, in fact this is only the 3rd or 4th one in 18+ years living here.

The weasel pulled the dead chipmunk down a chipmunk hole with Kash right on his heals. Earlier in the week I had noticed several bird nests I had been watching, and they all were ripped apart, eggs and babies gone. I told my wife I thought it was either raccoons or a weasel. I think I was right.

Kash has changed his mind and decided he does not like to ride in the Buick. When we go for any length of a ride, we usually take the van, it is just more convenient.  But once in a while we take the Buick because it rides nice and gets better gas mileage. Now he won’t get in the Buick by himself, he has to be forced in by picking him up and plopping him in the seat.  What’s up with that?

He still seems to be growing.  Everybody keeps remarking on how big he is getting.  Kash is 60lbs plus, but I cannot feel any fat on him.  He has not been getting the full out running exercise he used to, but that is his choice. We go for walks everyday in the woods, he just doesn’t run around like a nut anymore.

He still eats really good quality healthy dog food.  We make him some homemade dog food about once a month to give him some variety. We chose a different healthy recipe from the homemade dog food recipe book we bought online. It is the best! It has about 245 recipes in it. Highly recommended.

Kash the Dog

Kash loves his dog beds. He has 4 of them. Spoiled little critter!  He does need his naps everyday, or he gets slightly cranky, just like a human. (me)  He can get so comfortable-looking all curled up, or laying on his back, legs splayed out, showing his hairy penis to the world. He can be a weird dog, but can’t we all?

Well now that summer is upon us, the tick season is starting. We have had the least amount of ticks found this year, but that doesn’t mean you should not protect your pet. Lyme disease can be a bad, bad thing for your dog.  So protect your pet with a good tick preventative medicine.

Well time to take Kash for a walk, camera in hand, out to the woods.
