Border Collie-Aussie Mix Dogs Have Thin Skin

“Border Collie-Aussie Mix Dogs Have Thin Skin” said the vet!

I do think there is some truth to that. Kash seems to get small sores every time he goes through the swamp water. I do attribute that to thin skin or sensitive skin. Even though Kash, who is Border Collie-Aussie mix, has fine hair close to his skin, a double coat the vet said. He has a full luxurious coat that protects his skin topside.

Kash the Dog

Kash is a happy dog, so he doesn’t have some of the weird neurotic tendencies of some dogs of the same breeds. I think we were lucky that way. He is still a stinker sometimes, but for the most part he is a wonderful, smart, loving dog.

As any of you that have been following this blog and the life of Kash as he has been growing up, you know we had our challenges. So any people that have thoughts of adopting a Border Collie-Aussie mix dog, be ready for an smart energetic dog that wants to please.

Read this about Border Collies below to give you an idea of what these dogs are all about.

From Wikipedia: Border Collie

Border Collies make very demanding, energetic pets that are better off in households that can provide them with plenty of play and exercise with humans or other dogs. Due to their demanding personalities and need for mental stimulation and exercise, many border collies develop neurotic behaviors in households that are not able to provide for their needs.

They are infamous for chewing holes in walls, biting and chewing on furniture such as chairs and table legs and digging holes out of boredom. As a result, an alarming number of border collies end up in shelters and rescues every year.

One of the prime reasons for getting rid of a border collie is their unsuitability for families with small children, cats, and other dogs, due to their intense desire to herd; this was bred into them for hundreds of years and still one of their chief uses outside the household.”

Collie Mix

I take Kash for a walk every day, through rain, shine, blizzard, heat, lightning, or heavy storms, just because he needs it and we love to go, period. (Kash is not bothered by thunder and lightning!)

Well, I know this was a scattered thought post, but I needed to let you know we are still here.
