Border Collie-Aussie Mix Dog Needs Webbed Feet

Kash, our Border Collie-Aussie mix puppy is a little over ten months old now.  He is a swimmer.  He could use some webbed feet.  Swimming is one of two ways we found that actually tire him out.  The other is playing with the neighbor dog who looks just like him!

Kash and Sydney

Sydney is a female purebred Australian Shepherd from northern Michigan and Kash is a Border Collie-Aussie mix rescued from Indiana.  They are so similar.  Sydney’s tail has been docked and Kash has freckles on his legs.  And they are only a month apart in age.

They sure do like to play.  I took about a hundred photos of them playing and if you weren’t there you would swear it was a dog fight.  It takes Kash a whole day of laying around to recover from a 30-45 minute play session with Sydney.

Kash does have almost 20 pounds on Sydney.  Maybe it’s because he is a male.  Maybe it’s because of the homemade dog food recipes we have been trying out.  Using healthy dog food and supplementing it with vegetables, chicken, and fruit seems to work for Kash.

We took Kash out swimming in Lake Michigan at Deerlick Creek Park in South Haven Michigan the other evening.  He just goes and goes.  He has this thing about biting the waves with his mouth wide open!  A couple of times he came up choking.

He doesn’t jump on people unless they make the first move, like calling him, or trying to get him to play.  And his barking is controlled.  To big issues conquered.

The other great things about Kash is that he stays right in the yard, comes when he is called, and poops in the field, not on the lawn.  How cool is that.  He is becoming a great dog. He even snuggles with Shelly.  He never used to even want to be petted in his early months.  He was a truly difficult dog.  I told Shelly, “he will be a great dog, it just may take some time”.

Remember, have patience with your dog, hug your dog, and feed them healthy dog food.
